The Wine House in Gran Canaria

Popular Canarian gastronomy, based on well-condimented local products, are even tastier when they are accompanied by one of the many exquisite wines of Gran Canaria.

A label on a wine bottle reading “Certified Origin (DOC) – Gran Canaria” is the classification given to an impressive range of locally-produced wines. According to which areas they are produced in, it is now possible to taste a variety of different wines including young, red, white, fruity and aromatic, all of an excellent quality.

In the town of Santa Brígida in the centre of Gran Canaria, the recently inaugurated Wine Museum of Gran Canaria is now considered the ideal place for wine tasting as well as the promotion of Gran Canaria’s wines. In this historic, recently restored old building, wine lovers can experience the perfect surroundings to sample each and every variety of wine the island has to offer. As well as visiting the exhibition hall, it is also possible to learn more about the island’s wine history and obtain further information about the main areas of production. The extreme diversity of Gran Canaria’s microclimate means that the same variety of grape yields different oenological characteristics, according to the area in which it is cultivated.

La Casa del Vino (The Wine Museum) in Gran Canaria has made a real name for itself as an authentic wine museum where one may not only taste wines labelled “DOC Gran Canaria” but also purchase them. . In fact many of these locally produced wines have received popular acclaim for their superior quality at wine-tasting events throughout the Canary Islands.
