Endemic to: the mouth of the Barranco de Jinámar ravine, Gran Canaria

Description: Plant species considered in danger of extinction in the National Catalogue of Species under Threat and in need of a recovery plan. It is exclusively endemic to Gran Canaria and the sole population is to be found at the mouth of the Barranco de Jinamar ravine, within the limits of the Jinamar Site of Scientific Interest. It grows in the dunes or the wind driven sediment at an altitude of between 15 and 20 metres above sea level. It flowers between winter and spring although it is not uncommon to find it in flower until the month of July. The petals of the flowers are yellow and they darken as they dry out to become a brownish-black colour. Although it germinates easily, the plants develop with great difficulty.
