Playa de Las Canteras beach is in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is an enormous urban beach over three kilometres long, and it is the daily attraction for sportspeople, fishermen, tourists… It isn’t just any beach. It is protected from waves by a long volcanic reef known as "la Barra", this allows people to swim in a calm area on one part of the beach and surf waves in another.
