Chess

Gran Canaria is the chess paradise in Europe. Local newspapers echo this intense chess activity, and last year they became, together with a Rumanian newspaper, the written media on general information which published most news about this sport in the old continent. Anatoly Karpov himself has visited the Island on several occasions in the last years to take part in competitions and prepare the World Championship.
