Looking for a drop of adrenaline for your holidays? Are you one of those who believe water-skiing is in fashion? Perhaps you should spend some days in Gran Canaria.

You will probably be surprised to see lots of beachwear-clad adults, flying kites and running into the water the second the wind starts blowing. And carrying a strange board with them… together with an unusual kite. An adult with a kite?
Of course! You already know what we are talking about. The latest fad on the beaches of Gran Canaria, kite surfing. A virus that pumps in adrenaline to the sportspeople who week after week choose a spot on the island to jump and literally fly above the water.
Gran Canaria offers you different spots to fit your needs, from yellow to volcanic sand beaches, as well as secluded areas. A large number of places where to sail with the sun glued to your board.

The number of kiters and kite surfing enthusiasts in Gran Canaria grows season after season, and the island has all the attributes to lure these sportspeople, thanks to the trade winds that blow in the area most of the year.
If you want to get to know the spots where kiters are to be seen, you may try Vargas, south of the island. This is no beach for bathers or newbies, but radical territory, the place chosen by kite surfing freaks for the quality of the prevailing wind, and notwithstanding the difficulty of the terrain. Punta de Maspalomas will also gather groups of kiters from time to time. Here, they will practise their sport with the dunes as witnesses.
Kite-surfing enthusiasts are also to be found not far from the Águila and Tarajalillo beaches, on Las Burras. These spots offer a blend of kiters and windsurfers, all in search of fair winds and good waves.

So much movement makes strollers on nearby beaches freeze their daily walk for a while to witness these wild kiters jumping wave after wave and flying from one side to the other.
Come to Gran Canaria, where you can spend your days by the sea without need of wearing neoprene from neck to ankle. Weird as it may sound, you can also spend your days flying with the aid of a kite. And this is precisely what you may tell your fellow workers once back at the office: “Time just flew away”.
