This route begs to recall the history of the Canary aborigines that hid themselves away in the centre of Gran Canaria, fleeing the conquistadors of the pre-Hispanic age. There are places where numerous aborigines would embrace death before succumbing to enemy hands.
Sacred places like Roque Bentayga, where it today reminds us of a village that fought to conserve its ideology, its social structure and its roots. At the same time, this route is a drive through the large prey of the island. From the Artenara-Acusa-La Aldea de San Nicolás road, you can see such man-made lakes as the prey of el Parralillo (with capacity for 4,592,000 m3), of Siberio (with capacity for 4,507,000 m3) and of Caidero de la Niña (with capacity for 4,592,000m3).
