Atlantic Rally for Cruisers 2016
The World’s Largest Transocean Sailing Rally

Documento sin título

Every year, as we reach the end of the cruising season in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, hundreds of boats prepare to face the long transoceanic crossing that will take them to the Caribbean.

For the past 30 years, the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), the largest trans-oceanic sailing rally in the world, has attracted over 200 international boats and crews to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to take part in the incredible experience of them all crossing the Atlantic together. The ARC rally offers fun, safety and confidence, especially to those who are taking on this long crossing for the first time.

This well known rally has brought together many intrepid sailors from all over the world, along with their families and friends, who aspire to sail across the Atlantic to the island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. The direct crossing will take an average of 18-21 days depending on the size and speed of the boat.

Yachts will be converging on Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from early November, to enjoy a daily programme of events and activities leading up to the start, creating a magnificent atmosphere around the Muelle Deportivo Marina.

This year, due to massive demand from crews wishing to take part in the rally, a second route option is available called ARC+. Departing two weeks ahead of the traditional ARC start, ARC+ will depart Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for Cape Verde on Sunday 6th November. Following a brief stopover to explore, the fleet of 75 boats will then continue across the Atlantic to Saint Lucia.

On Sunday 20th November, over 200 other boats will set sail from Muelle Deportivo for the 31st edition of the ARC, sailing directly to the Caribbean. The best spot on shore to watch this superb spectacle is from the seafront promenade (Avenida Marítima) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
