The Maspalomas Lighthouse Tourist Office shines a light for travellers

The Tourist Information Office, recently opened in the Maspalomas Lighthouse, uses this emblematic spot to provide all the information you need to enjoy Gran Canaria to the full.

The Maspalomas Lighthouse has been lighting the way for travellers since 1890. The recent opening of the Tourist Information Office in this emblematic tower, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, only goes to emphasise that it is a reference point for making enquiries or getting to know the south of Gran Canaria and the Island as a whole.

The Tourist Information Office stands at an extraordinary crossroads between the natural world and the constant flow of people who come to enjoy the beauty of the environment and the infrastructures and services developed around it.

Maspalomas beach and its dunes stretch into the distance along one side of the seawall at the foot of the Lighthouse. On the other side, there is the remodelled Paseo de Meloneras, home to restaurants, shops and places to relax in this beauty spot where the ocean and the sun conspire to create unforgettable moments all year round.

Consequently, you can find the Tourist Information Office as easily and naturally as the waves that arrive endlessly on the shore. Open seven days a week, it is a constant source of information on routes, towns, leisure spots or festive and cultural events, among many other alternatives, as diverse as the island itself.

The staff are well-prepared to guide each visitor, like their own personal lighthouse. This comfortable, easy-to-access facility also boasts a mosaic of screens with images and information designed to encourage you to make the most of every moment in Maspalomas, in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and in Gran Canaria in general.

Furthermore, this pit-stop will give you the chance to explore the Maspalomas Lighthouse Ethnographic Centre, with a thousand items on show plus loads of information on the various crafts featured in the different documentary sources, particularly focussing on writings by travellers who have passed through the Canary Islands and described traditional scenes.

Time has gone by. The glass dome of the old lighthouse now beams out a halogen light and every day, thousands of people walk past this building which was definitively created to light the way to happiness in Gran Canaria.
