Shopping

From boutiques selling prestigious international brands to small craft shops, from the latest fashions to sportswear, perfume or nautical gear, Gran Canaria offers a wide variety of establishments to tourists enjoying their holidays on the Island.

Gran Canaria: Gay Friendly

The Island offers two very different shopping areas: the Southern area, around the tourist spots, where visitors can find an enormous range of shops close to the beach and the accommodation complexes; the other option is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Island’s capital and the largest city in the Canary Islands, which has a wide range of shops, shopping centres and department stores.

Southern zone:

There is a varied and wide range of shops on offer in the South of Gran Canaria always adapting to visitors’ needs. In the different shopping centres, spread out all over Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustín, Puerto Rico or Meloneras, we can find a whole host of shops meeting all budgets. The Yumbo Shopping Centre, right in the centre of Playa del Inglés, houses the largest concentration of shops, restaurants and leisure establishments to specifically satisfy the gay community’s needs and interests. This shopping centre, which is well known throughout Europe, has for many years been one of the most famous and popular meeting points for gay tourists on the Island.

Northern Zone (Las Palmas de GC):

Some of the best shops on the Island can be found in historical ‘Triana’ street and its surrounding area offering everything from exclusive fashion firms to high street brands, from accessories to jewellery, Canary Island crafts, sportswear or gifts. The shops in Triana practically join up with the city’s old town, known as Vegueta, which offers the possibility of combining an afternoon shopping with a visit to some of its many museums. Triana also offers interesting bars and terraces around the Plaza de las Ranas, Plaza Cairasco or Boulevard Monopol, where you can go out for a drink or have a coffee in peace.

The Mesa y López shopping area, on the other side of the city, also offers visitors the option of shopping in department stores, boutiques or specialised shops.
