Getting there

To get to La Aldea de San Nicolás (also known as La Aldea) you can choose one of three routes: taking the Autopista del Sur (motorway south) and going along the east and south coasts, taking the Carretera del Centro (road to the centre of the island) as far as Artenara and continuing on down along the road that goes past the dams, or taking the Carretera del Norte along the north and west coasts.

The most usual route is that of the north, although it is not in fact the shortest and the last part is very windy. The route via the centre is the worst as far as driving is concerned but it is the most scenic route for the visitor. However, the easiest of the three is via the south of the island.

Even though La Aldea de San Nicolás is only 71 kilometres away from the city of Las Palmas, the north route takes about an hour and a half as the road is far from straightforward.

If you decide to take public transport, you should go to the Estación de Guaguas  de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas bus station) and take a bus number 01 that goes to the Puerto de Mogán, from where the bus number 38 departs and has four daily exits with direction to La Aldea de San Nicolás for the south route. Also there is the possibility of coming to the municipality thanks to the bus number 105 that goes out to Gáldar (in the north) where you can take the bus number 101 to go on to La Aldea de San Nicolás.
