Gran Canaria Gay Friendly
One of the greatest gay tourism destinations in Europe
Would you like to know the reasons why Gran Canaria has
traditionally been one of the main European LGTB destinations?
The island of Gran Canaria is one of the greatest gay tourist centres in Europe. Situated just a few hours away from the principal cities on the continent, it brings in travelers from a thousand different places. Travelers keen to enjoy temperatures ranging from 18 to 25 degrees, 12 months a year.
The choice of accommodation on Gran Canaria is as varied as the landscapes on the island. Visitors can choose from a wide range of gay exclusive or gay friendly establishments. From cosy little bungalows on the coast to small country hotels in the mountainous interior, together with an extensive choice of services catering for the health conscious.
But above all, an enormous sea of beaches unfolds before our eyes in Gran Canaria, a hundred of them, all mixed and matched for lovers of fine weather. Among these is Maspalomas, with its kilometres of dune fields, providing long sunny days nearly every day of the year.
Add to this the night life, another of the great attractions of Gran Canaria. In Playa del Inglés, at Maspalomas, or in the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, an infinity of pubs and discos abound, so that we can squeeze the most of every moment out of the island’s bustling night life.
And for those who prefer daytime activities, Gran Canaria puts on a large number of cultural events. Classical music, opera, theatre and open air concerts are staged all through the year, regardless of whether we are in January or August, it makes no difference here. And then of course there is the Carnival, the great fiesta. This goes on for weeks and weeks all around the towns and villages, featuring open air dancing and other great shows, such as the Carnival Queen contest or the Gala Drag Queen.
Much more than just an ocean of beaches then, Gran Canaria offers a cast iron guarantee for getaways to the sun, and is not far from home. You don’t even need to pack much either, just bring bags of fun.
