The Poema del Mar Aquarium, the most spectacular one of its kind in Europe, opens a window to the marine universe in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The oceans are now reciting their own verses on the island. The Poema del Mar, the grand aquarium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has opened its doors to offer a window to the marine universe. Its facilities are the most spectacular in Europe and is therefore set to become one of the great attractions, not only in the city and on the island, but in the Canaries as a whole.

Tradition and modern day fuse together at the Hotel Emblemático Arucas de Gran Canaria, a century old house that has been refurbished.

The first stone at the San Juan Bautista church in Arucas, one of most important historical buildings in Gran Canaria, was laid back in 1909. There is evidence of a photo being taken of its construction from the skyroof of a house just thirty metres from where building was taking place. This means that this century old house was already standing prior to the building of the church, which due to its noble structure, is called a cathedral by many.

The new tunnel on the road to La Aldea now provides access to one of the most beautiful outposts in Gran Canaria.

Your car moves along between two towering cliffs that make you feel both small and fortunate at the same time. If you are coming in from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and have just passed Agaete, there is a huge expanse of blue ocean to your right. On the other side, a range of cliffs rise up –or plunge downwards, depending on how you look at it- and give way to steep ravines from time to time that open out into the sea. That’s right, the road that opens up in La Aldea de San Nicolás is a procession of kilometres of stunning beauty.
