Beaches of Agaete in Gran Canaria: A Sea of Blue and Stillness

The natural pools and sun-drenched beaches of Agaete satisfy the spirit of the sea, as the poet Saulo Torón wrote. 

The sea opens its blue eyes at the mouth of the Agaete ravine. Here, in the natural pools of Las Salinas, life becomes bright and transparent. Even the passage of time itself seems to slow down when we immerse ourselves in this setting, carved by the waves upon the volcanic rock in a joyful encounter between elements as different as water and fire. From the struggle between the two, harmony and beauty finally emerged.

The Blue Eyes of Valsequillo, Gran Canaria

The blue tajinaste, Roque Grande and Roque Chico are among the natural symbols of Valsequillo, in Gran Canaria.

Sweetness begins with a sound: the buzzing around the flowers of the blue tajinaste and thyme clinging to the slopes of Valsequillo, a municipality of honey, landscapes, cheeses, trails, sensations and cultures. The seemingly unplanned flight of bees forms part of a choreography of Nature that culminates symbolically at Roque Grande, the stone sentinel of this area where Gran Canaria reaches towards the sky and gazes out over the ocean.
