Description
In the beginning of 20th century this property was the first chocolate factory in Gran Canaria. Today the Old Chocolate Factory is protected by Patrimonio Histórico de Canarias, and it provides unique accommodation in the historic centre, Vegueta, featuring traditional patio with a little fountain for all the guests to enjoy. Free high speed WiFi is available throughout the building.
Vegueta and Triana neighborhoods are included in the tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Explore the labyrinthine streets and visit the plazas, churches, shops and museums. The oldest market hall of this capital, the Cathedral as well as many restaurants, cafes and Triana, the best shopping district on the island, are all a few minute walk away. At night there are tapas, wines, beers and live music served in a great atmosphere, especially on Thursdays. On Sunday mornings there is an open air craft market, offering also vegetables, pastries and Canarian folklore at the back of the Cathedral.
Las Palmas Airport is a 20-minute taxi ride away and an airport shuttle service is available for an extra charge. Las Canteras Beach is 10 minutes away by car and 20 minutes by a bicycle. Gran Canaria also offers an excellent network of public transport and inexpensive taxis.
Proudly sat in the heart of Vegueta, the Old Chocolate Factory feels a world apart from the bustle of contemporary life, offering exceptional authenticity and beauty.
